This is not the kind of book I typically read. I picked it for the 2016 pop sugar challenge of protagonist with the same occupation. I listened to the audio version and I really enjoyed the narrator.
It was definitely all politics all the time, but it didn't really annoy me much as the protagonist hates politics too. I really liked pretty much all of the characters so it was an easy story to get into.

I genuinely enjoyed this. It wasn't scary though. The concept of the story is scary as hell (I certainly would never last in this world), but the execution of it just wasn't. It didn't ruin it though. It's a story of survival with a unique plot. There is a lot of switching from past to present, which is always a little confusing at first with an audiobook. I'd definitely recommend it.
I was really excited to read this since I love ghost stories, but it was very disappointing. Almost nothing happens, other than a crazy governess ranting through the whole book. Then there is no conclusion. Just an abrupt ending. This just wasn't for me.
Aside from his Odd Thomas series I have not found many of Koontz books that I have really liked, so this was a great surprise. I really enjoyed it. I actually liked the characters and found the plot very interesting.
I only picked this up to fulfill one of my book challenges, to read a book originally written in another language. I honestly didn't think this book would be for me, but it was fantastic. Definitely a pleasant surprise.
Maybe a 3.5 star read. I genuinely enjoyed the book. The concept was good and terrifying if you really think about it. What really brought the rating down for me is all the politics. Just ugh, I have no interest in reading about them and that was a good 50% of the book. On one hand, Jim Rennie was a great villain, because I really really hated him through the whole book, but again politics.
After re-reading this I had to change my rating from a 4 star to a 3 star read. I just found it very slow and hard to get into. It picked back up at the end and that is what saved it for me. I still intend to continue the series, as I would like to finally finish it.
More of a 2.5 star read. It was OK. I read this as part of my 2015 book challenge, to read a play. I think it would be much more enjoyable to watch as a play.
More of a 2.5 star read. I found this very difficult to get into. The writing style just is not for me. The characters not having names made it nearly impossible to connect. There is no character development. The world is a great setting for a post apocalyptic novel, but it just wasn't enough.
I really enjoyed this. I was a bit worried after some of the celebrity memoirs that I have read, that it would be a trying too hard to be funny and name dropping book. So I was incredibly happy when that was not the case.
3.5 stars. I'm more than a little disappointed. I have heard so many rave reviews on this book but it fell a bit flat for me.
I had forgotten how much I like this series! This was a fun and fast read. I was sucked into the story immediately. Angel is such an awesomely imperfect character. She is sarcastic and witty when she wants to be and that humor is right up my alley.
More of a 2.5 star read. I just disliked the writing style so much that I could not get into the story. The story itself was alright. An interesting story of addiction, but overall this just was not for me.
